Thanks to ongoing support from Booking.com, TWP is working to develop a FREE E-Learning for hotels on how to reduce plastic and keep staff and guests safe.  Content will be developed with technical support from the hygiene experts at Intertek Cristal.

21 leading tourism companies, suppliers, business associations, NGOs, consultancies and certification schemes announced their signature of the Global Tourism Plastics Initiative and disclosed their ambitious commitments with regards to the elimination of unnecessary single-use plastics, transition to reuse models and use of reusable, recyclable, or compostable plastic packaging and items.

The Global Tourism Plastics Initiative was officially announced today by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and UNEP, in collaboration with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation. This initiative unites the tourism sector behind a common vision to tackle the root causes of plastic pollution, enabling businesses and governments to take joint action.

TWP was in fabulous company on the Plastic Reduction Panel at WTM, with speakers from IHG, Water-To-Go, SP Global to name a few.  The Plastic Panel sat within a range of other important sustainability topics on the agenda.

Plastic Reduction Workshops with TUI Group

TWP joined forces with the TUI Group to deliver a Plastic Reduction Workshop to key hotels within the group in Turkey, helping to drive progress towards their stretching 2020 target of reducing single use plastic by 250 million items!

The Thomas Cook Group has pledged to remove 70 million single use items from across its portfolio by 2020.  Key hotels involved in the change are supported by the TWP Let's Reduce Single Use Toolkit which saves hotels an average of €5000 every year.
